Review Process

Peer Review Process

Explore: Jurnal Sistem Informasi dan Telematika (Telekomunikasi, Multimedia dan Informatika) applies a rigorous peer-review process to ensure the quality, originality, relevance, and scientific integrity of all published manuscripts. The journal employs a single-blind peer-review system, in which reviewers know the identities of the authors, while authors do not know the identities of the reviewers. The review process consists of the following stages:

1. Plagiarism and Copyright Compliance

Before submission, authors are advised to check their manuscripts for plagiarism and ensure that the submitted work does not violate copyright or other applicable intellectual property rights. Authors are responsible for the originality, accuracy, and ethical integrity of their submissions.

2. Initial Editorial Screening

Upon submission, the editor conducts an initial assessment to evaluate the manuscript's suitability for the journal's focus and scope, compliance with the journal's manuscript template and author guidelines, and general readiness for peer review.

3. Preliminary Editorial Assessment and Communication

During the initial screening, the editor may communicate with the corresponding author to request clarification, corrections, or improvements. Based on the results of this assessment, the manuscript may proceed to peer review, be returned to the author for preliminary revisions, or be declined if it does not meet the journal's requirements.

4. Assignment to Reviewers

Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial screening are assigned to two independent reviewers with relevant expertise in the subject area of the submission. The reviewers evaluate the manuscript using the journal's single-blind peer-review system.

5. Review Criteria

Reviewers assess manuscripts based on the following criteria:

  • Novelty and Originality: The originality of the research and its contribution to the field of computer science and informatics.

  • Objectivity: The objectivity and clarity of the research objectives, analysis, and interpretation of findings.

  • Research Methodology: The appropriateness and rigor of the methods, research design, data analysis, and validation procedures.

  • Scientific Impact: The significance, relevance, and potential contribution of the research to scientific knowledge and practical applications.

  • Conclusions: The consistency of the conclusions with the research objectives, methods, and findings.

  • References: The relevance, adequacy, quality, and appropriateness of the cited literature.

6. Reviewer Recommendations

Reviewers provide constructive comments, recommendations, and suggestions for improvement. Based on their assessments, reviewers may recommend acceptance, revision, or rejection of the manuscript. Authors may be required to revise their submissions and respond to the reviewers' comments before further consideration.

7. Editorial Evaluation and Decision

The editor evaluates the reviewers' recommendations and comments to determine whether the manuscript meets the scientific, technical, and editorial standards of Explore. The editor may request further revisions, return the manuscript for additional evaluation, or recommend rejection when the manuscript does not meet the journal's requirements.

8. Final Decision

The Editor-in-Chief has the final authority to accept or reject a manuscript for publication. This decision considers the reviewers' recommendations, the editor's evaluation, the manuscript's scientific merit, and its conformity with the journal's focus, scope, and publication standards.

9. Online Review Management through OJS

The entire editorial and peer-review process is managed through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform. The system facilitates manuscript submission, editorial screening, reviewer assignment, review reports, author revisions, editorial decisions, and communication among the parties involved in the publication process.

Through this process, Explore seeks to maintain a fair, transparent, confidential, and academically rigorous review system for all submitted manuscripts.
