Authorship Criteria

Authorship Criteria

Explore: Jurnal Sistem Informasi dan Telematika (Telekomunikasi, Multimedia dan Informatika) is committed to ensuring appropriate authorship attribution, accountability, and integrity in scholarly publishing. All individuals listed as authors must have made meaningful intellectual contributions to the submitted manuscript and must be willing to take responsibility for their contributions.

1. Criteria for Authorship

To qualify for authorship, each author should meet the following criteria:

  1. Substantial Contribution: Have made a significant contribution to the conception or design of the research, the acquisition of data, or the analysis and interpretation of research findings.

  2. Manuscript Preparation: Have participated in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.

  3. Final Approval: Have reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript submitted for publication.

  4. Accountability: Agree to be accountable for their contributions and to help ensure that questions concerning the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.

These criteria are intended to ensure that authorship reflects genuine scholarly contributions rather than professional position, seniority, or administrative involvement.

2. Responsibilities of the Corresponding Author

The corresponding author is responsible for coordinating communication between the editorial team and all co-authors throughout the submission, review, revision, and publication processes.

The corresponding author must:

  • Ensure that all listed authors meet the journal's authorship criteria.

  • Obtain approval from all co-authors for the submitted manuscript and its final version.

  • Provide accurate and complete author names, institutional affiliations, and contact information.

  • Confirm that all co-authors agree to the submission and publication of the manuscript.

  • Coordinate responses to reviewers' comments and editorial requests.

  • Ensure that any required declarations concerning conflicts of interest, funding, research ethics, and originality are accurately reported.

3. Author Contributions

Authors are encouraged to clearly identify their respective contributions to the research and manuscript preparation. Contributions may include conceptualization, methodology, software development, data collection, formal analysis, investigation, validation, visualization, writing of the original draft, review and editing, supervision, and project administration.

Each author's contribution should be reported accurately and transparently. Where appropriate, the journal encourages the use of the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT) to describe individual contributions.

4. Changes in Authorship

Any addition, removal, or rearrangement of authors after manuscript submission must be justified and approved by all authors involved, including those being added or removed. A formal request must be submitted to the editorial team, explaining the reason for the proposed change.

The Editor-in-Chief will evaluate the request and determine whether the change can be approved. Changes in authorship must not be made solely to reflect academic rank, institutional position, funding provision, or other considerations unrelated to actual scholarly contributions.

5. Gift, Guest, and Ghost Authorship

Explore does not support inappropriate authorship practices, including:

  • Gift or Guest Authorship: Listing individuals who have not made sufficient scholarly contributions to qualify for authorship.

  • Ghost Authorship: Omitting individuals who have made substantial contributions to the research or manuscript.

  • Honorary Authorship: Including individuals solely because of their position, seniority, reputation, or institutional authority.

All authorship information must accurately reflect the actual contributions of the individuals involved in the research.

6. Acknowledgment of Contributions

Individuals who have contributed to the research but do not meet the authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately, with their permission. Such contributions may include technical assistance, administrative support, language editing, or other forms of non-authorial assistance.

Acknowledgment must not be used as a substitute for authorship when an individual's contributions satisfy the established authorship criteria.

7. Authorship Disputes and Ethical Violations

Any dispute concerning authorship or author contributions should first be addressed among the individuals involved. If the dispute cannot be resolved, the authors may be requested to provide supporting information or institutional clarification.

The journal reserves the right to suspend the editorial process while a serious authorship dispute is being investigated. Where evidence of inappropriate authorship or misrepresentation is identified, the journal may take appropriate action in accordance with its publication ethics policies.

8. Declaration of Authorship

By submitting a manuscript to Explore, the corresponding author confirms that all listed authors have made appropriate contributions, have approved the submitted version, and agree to be accountable for their respective contributions. The corresponding author also confirms that the authorship information provided to the journal is accurate and complete.

Explore expects all authors to uphold the principles of transparency, accountability, and academic integrity throughout the publication process.
